As I browsed through my wardrobe in preparation for my outing, I came across this cute striped sequins sweater. It instantly won and became a part of my outfit selection for the day. Once paired with a pop of colored denim and my leather converse, I was ready to go.
As I grabbed my regular go to jacket to step through my front door, a creative thought popped into my mind. How about I take a chance of mixing the detailed pattern of a recently purchased coat with my sweater. At first, I wasn't sure or pleased with my initial look. I asked my boyfriend about 5 times if this choice was wise. His response of course was "It's fine. If you like it. Then it's fine." In a woman's world, that was not an acceptable answer.
He could of easily said " Hey babe! You look great!" or "Honestly, I don't think it's working." All responses that I have received from him in the past. However, I convinced myself that stepping out of my comfort zone when it came to fashion was 100% okay! I took the risk and my look eventually grew on me and I was pleased.
When mixing patterns and prints. I advise that you mix larger patterns and prints with smaller one to create a balance. If I had two smaller prints together, my look would of been to "busy" and even distracting. I also made sure to maintain solid colors within my denim and handbag to keep this look from being an epic fail. Try mixing some prints of your own. You'll be surprised in how great it looks!
