Being Comfortable and Stylish All At The Same Time...At A Great Price!

I love looking my best at all times. However, I DON'T believe that you should have to pay an arm and a leg to look great. I have been purchasing from H&M for more than a decade. Believe it or not, I've been an avid shopper of H&M since I was in high school. Now, as an adult, H&M is my go to spot when I need to update pieces for my wardrobe or to find something quick for a special occasion. I also love the affordability of their clothing and the sales that they have!  Recently, H&M started their summer sale  and I scooped up these cute pieces when I stopped at my nearest H&M location.

I got this basic shirt for $7.99. Fortunately, this was the normal price! This comfortable and the style of V-neck sleeveless shirt can be paired with pretty much anything. I also love how soft and yet durable this shirt is and I've worn it many times since buying it. I also scored this beautifully designed chain for $3.00 which was originally priced at $14.99.

I got this pant for a great deal! They were on sale for $7.00. I thought this was an amazing price! How often can you get a fashionable, comfortable, and breathable pair of pants for less than $10.00. I was going to pick up more in various designs, however, they were all sold out in my size. When things are a good deal...they hardly ever stay on the shelves and racks of H&M!

My entire look excluding my handbag and shoes total to less than $18.00. If you want to find fashionable and affordable pieces to add to your wardrobe. You need to make H&M your go to spot like I have made it! Make sure you check out H&M summer sale sooner than later before all their great finds are gone!

XOXO,

Monique

Beautiful day in Brooklyn to be Pretty in Pink

Hi my loves!

I am back in full force as summer gets closer and closer. This Memorial day weekend was a quiet one. I didn't spend my weekend hopping from party to party or barbecue to barbecue. Instead, I laid low, spending most of my time within the house enjoying the AC and of course with my family. However, I did wonder out and enjoyed how beautiful it was outside.

I caught up with old friends and made new friends from California. They were really down to earth and hilarious.  We shared jokes about how crazy our dogs were. They also tried convincing me that moving to California, to live "the lights, camera, action" lifestyle would be a good fit for it. But... I am a New Yorker at heart. Leaving New York is not currently an option for me. Like the saying goes, never say never, but unfortunately right now it is a NO!

Overall, I had a great weekend and did it in style. Whether you were partying or laying low. I hope your weekend was eventful and highly fashionable.  Check out one of my looks from this past weekend.

New York Style in Myrtle Beach

Hey guys!

As you all may know, I spent my vacation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the Ocean Reef Resort. I am not the type of person who normally enjoys spending time at the beach, but this time... I definitely did! Why? Because the word "Getaways" had ABSOLUTELY no meaning to me. My boyfriend always said it was a result of me being a workaholic. Me? A workaholic? Stop being ridiculous! Okay maybe a little. No, let's be honest... I am a workaholic! Work always came first, then everything else. There were no exceptions, not even when I was sick. I fought against going on vacation because I always had something to do. Fortunately, I am truly beginning to realize the importance of getting away from your everyday routine to just breathe! To me, New York City is constantly on fast forward. Or maybe my life in New York City is constantly on fast forward! Yikes! This may not be such a bad thing..right? At least, I would always have something to do. HOWEVER...there are times that I definitely need a break and this getaway was truly appreciated and of course well deserved!

In the beginning, I just took in the scenery. But over time, I started developing spur of the movement impulses. (Honestly, I think I was just happy that I was on vacation.) Even though it was still technically winter, I had a strong urge to get my feet wet. However, when that water hit me. Literally it hit me. I RAN! It was so COLD! I had a misconstrued notion that during the winter, the water was warmer. In the summer, the water was colder. Yeah, right! I was absolutely wrong! Where'd I get that idea from? That story is for another day. Either way, I was having fun!

Spending most of my day at the beach wasn't as bad as I imagined. My boyfriend and I did go out for dinner later that night and caught a movie. I'm sorry but I'm a New Yorker, I was not dressed only to go to the beach. So we had to do something else besides "soaking up the sun!" After dinner, I requested that we go back to the beach to catch the sunset. It was beautiful, relaxing, and a great way to spend my first day at Myrtle beach!

Thanks for reading and supporting me always!

XOXO,

Monique

My Casual Outerwear Look!

Happy New Yeaaaaaaar!  This is my first post for the new year and I want to give you my warm greetings. Despite the fact that I am an entire month late. If you don't know already,  I'm a strong believer in the philosophy of "better late than never!" This year, I will  continue to share my personal style with you, however, I would like to give more insight on the fashion deals I find while shopping. As a child, my parents paid retail for everything they bought me. Why?... it's because they did not know better! This mistake has been corrected by me!

The outerwear look that I am sharing today consist of  my latest purchases. These purchases were made at TJMAXX during their yellow tag sale and from the store Lot Less in New York City. With this look, I wanted to be casual with a splash of girliness!  My hat and boots were purchased at Lot Less. Lot Less is a store that craters to your everyday needs. You can find everything from home essential to unexpected fashion finds there!

My boyfriend had seen a pair of boots at Lot Less that he really liked. He called me and took me to the store that night to see it.  Now, these were not the boots he took me there to see.  But, when I saw them... I fell in love!

I loved the quilted details and gold accented zipper on these booties. Like many other fashion finds, these were calling my name! I quickly scooped up these bad boys and one other pair of boots. These came at a good time for me because I desperately needed a boot for everyday wear this season.

During my hunt at TJMAXX yellow tag sale, I was able to get these Katespade gloves for only $12.  Did I need these gloves? No, but for that price. I couldn't help NOT buy them!!!!

One major find during the TJMAXX yellow tag sale was this katespade peacoat! The first time I saw this coat, I didn't buy it. It actually took me two visits before I purchased it.   See, I loved the peacoat when I first saw it, however, I did not buy it because of a situation that occurred at the store.

As I browsed through the sale rack, I noticed that this coat had an old red sticker on it. I immediately asked a floor associate  if this coat was apart of the yellow tag sale. The associate said yes and informed me to let the cashier know, so that I can get the yellow tag price. I was excited and played out in my head what the price might be. When I went to the register, the young lady at the cashier told me how cute the coat was and explained that Katespade products were extremely expensive to her. Now, because I normally buy my Katespade products on sale. I smiled and kindly explained to her my conversation with the previous sales associate.

She immediately spoke with another cashier. That cashier helped her to get the new price for the coat. While looking at the scanner, the cashier that was helping me began to whisper to the other cashier. She asked her, if the price showing on the scanner was correct. Then, she  proceeded to walk over to the printer. When she came back to me, it had a yellow tag that had the same price of $139.00 on it. She said " I'm sorry, but this is the price." I  thanked the cashier for her help and told her I'd pass. I left TJMAXX a little frustrated because I felt that something wasn't right! How was it possible that it was the same price but it had a red sticker on it?

Later that week, I visited a different TJMAXX location in Brooklyn.  While there, I shared my experience with a sales associate about the Katespade peacoat. She told me that I should go back to the store. For as, if  it had a red sticker on it, then the yellow sticker price should be lower! She even indirectly implied that the young lady might of told me that price, as a deterrent, so she can buy it. I hoped that wasn't the case. Luckily for me, when I went back, it was still there! This peacoat retail for $360.00 and I got it for $89.00.

I was ecstatic that I followed my gut, spoke to another sales associate, and ended my day adding another great addition to my closet!!! The point of this short story is that it NEVER HURTS to ask, go with your gut, and get a second opinion if you feel something is wrong!

XOXO,

Monique
