Making that Spring Transition!

Happy Tuesday!!! Now, that the weather is not as frigid and it's a little more bearable, I am definitely looking forward to all the outside festivals and activities that will start coming to town.  I also look forward to taking in my surroundings and enjoying the scenery of the borough I love... BROOKLYN!  This day, I visited Shore Boulevard and took in the beautiful scenery of Sheepshead Bay.

During the spring and summer time, you can come out to Shore Boulevard and sit on the many benches available and watch the hustle and bustle of the bay.

You would witness families taking a stroll (with little children running and playing), couples enjoying time with each other, people fishing, and boats coming in and going out of Sheepshead bay.

It is absolutely beautiful if you are the type of person who likes to sit and enjoy their surroundings.

If your a person who likes to go out for brunch or dinner, there are many restaurants located on Emmons Avenue with inside and outside seating.

If your like me, I love catching a movie after grabbing a bite to eat. (I also do it in the opposite order.) Sheepshead Bay movie theater is literally a hip and a skip away. It's about a 5 minute drive from Emmons Avenue. Many families go back and forth between the two locations. When I was younger, my parents use to bring me out here and it was truly a peaceful place to be. A nice part of Brooklyn to visit. I hope you are having a great week so far! It's time to start getting out more and enjoy your neighborhood scenery as it comes alive this spring season!

Xoxo,

Buh Bye Winter! Hello Spring...I think!

Hi Everyone! I hope your week started off just right! I know I haven't posted in some time. I'm sorry for that... but lately, I have been overwhelmed with work, life, and the winter weather has not been making it any better for me. However, I can't make those things hinder me. So, I am jumping right back into my pleasures; one of them being blogging. As I have said many times this year. Mother Nature has been playing with us. I mean really playing with us when it comes to this weather. For a few days, we had really nice weather. I was able to pull out my lighter jackets, pulling off a more fall look. However, NO! Mother Nature decided to bring back the blistering cold!

So when the weather is half-way decent, I jump at the opportunity to shed some layers and ditch my winter coat. I knew my days were limited for wearing faux leather but I was determine to get as much usage out of my faux leather pieces as possible.  Faux leather is the best alternative to achieve a leather look without the leather. It's an option I turn to when I want to buy leather pieces without the leather. (I wish it was the same for my shoes and bags. Unfortunately, I have not been successful with faux leather shoes and bags. They don't seem to withstand the wear and tear of having me as an owner.)

For this look, I was playing with a black, pink, and white/silver theme. I wanted to achieve the sophistication and chicness without over doing the leather look. So I used my light pink and white knit sweater as a divider for the faux leather jacket and pants. I also brought my pop of color into my wardrobe through my light and hot pink leather bag.

As for accessories, I wanted to have a feminine touch to lighten my heavy leather look. This brushed nickel floral chain was just the right piece. I did not use a silver chain because I wanted the necklace to stand apart from my sweater. At times, we tend to wear jewelry pieces that blend into our outfits when observed from a far. I wanted this piece to stand out, whether you're looking at me from a far or up close and personal.

My shoes were also made of leather but the leather tassel with the silver accent help to gave character and playful to my overall look.

These bracelets came from a 5 piece set that I recently purchase this month. It's absolutely adorable and bring in more femininity  and playfulness that I wanted to my look.

In sum, this look of pairing faux leather pieces together could of been too much. However, with the play of color within my sweater and makeup. Along with the feminine pieces, it helped to tied everything together very well. This allowed me to get the polished look I wanted! Thank you for reading and your support!

Xoxo,

Monique

A Blue Combination.

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I decided to post a late night post (hence the night time photoshoot.)  I don't normally do Throw Back Thursdays. However, I wanted to share with you my first photoshoot as a Fashion Blogger. On this day, I was being my usual self. (Attending work and immediately traveling to attend an event.) Since I knew that I was going out later that evening, I put together an outfit that would seamlessly transition from day to night.

I am a person who loves color! Many people are afraid to experiment with color. However, I'm not! I actually bask in my opportunity to play with color through my outfits. Sometimes, I put colors together and it looks fabulous. Other times, I would have to check myself and say "Woman, Is this the best color combination?...Nah." I just have to laugh at myself because I can be a little crazy! Fortunately, this doesn't happen often.

For this outfit, I used a blue color combination with pink as my pop of color.  I paired light blue jeans, a sleeveless white shirt, with a studded navy blue open front tunic. The studded details on this tunic really made this outfit make a statement.

To enhance the details of the studded tunic, I complimented it with silver tone accessories. I echoed the silver tone throughout my earring, chains, bracelet, and wristlet. By doing this, I created a truly completed look. However, you must be careful when accessorizing garments that are made with embellishments. The amount of embellishments that the garment is created with, will determine the type of accessories that you will use. For this outfit, I went for a layered look with a clean and simple design. I especially kept this in mind with my chains and bracelet.

If I had chosen a highly detailed chain and bracelet, it would of made my outfit look too "busy" giving the impression that my outfit had too much going on. Since, I keep my accessories simple there were an equal balance visually.

Thank you for reading today's post and tips for accessorizing garments with embellishments.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Chelsea's Market

Happy Friday everyone! I am sorry that I didn't post this yesterday. Yesterday was a really rough day for me. However,  I am so happy that this week is over. I wanted to share with you an outfit that is really comfortable and yet very stylish. It is also a great day to night transition outfit.

Lately, almost all the ladies I know own an article of clothing that is covered with jewels. Whether it is a jewel collar shirt, jewel covered top, or a jewel covered skirt. I absolutely love this trend!  I am able to dress up for an average day and not worry about being too over dressed, but looking just right. If you know what I mean!

To compliment the slightly oversized jeweled shirt that I purchased from H&M. I paired it with a fitted black leggings to balance off the wideness of the shirt. To bring more attention to the gold accent of the jewels on my shirt; I highlighted it with gold accessories. I echoed the gold accents through my watch, rings, bracelets, necklace and my shoes.

The day I wore this outfit, I was hanging out with my family and friends. We had attended an event earlier that day at Chelsea's Market and all I can say is ... I love this place! It has the cutest stores and amazing places to eat. Also the architectural features of this building is beautiful! There is so much character created by the freight elevators, brick interiors, wood work, fountain and all the other little details that makes this a place to visit!

While their we

Thank you for supporting me and reading my post! If you haven't visited Chelsea's Market... you should grab lunch there!

xoxo,

Monique
