Beautiful day in Brooklyn to be Pretty in Pink

Hi my loves!

I am back in full force as summer gets closer and closer. This Memorial day weekend was a quiet one. I didn't spend my weekend hopping from party to party or barbecue to barbecue. Instead, I laid low, spending most of my time within the house enjoying the AC and of course with my family. However, I did wonder out and enjoyed how beautiful it was outside.

I caught up with old friends and made new friends from California. They were really down to earth and hilarious.  We shared jokes about how crazy our dogs were. They also tried convincing me that moving to California, to live "the lights, camera, action" lifestyle would be a good fit for it. But... I am a New Yorker at heart. Leaving New York is not currently an option for me. Like the saying goes, never say never, but unfortunately right now it is a NO!

Overall, I had a great weekend and did it in style. Whether you were partying or laying low. I hope your weekend was eventful and highly fashionable.  Check out one of my looks from this past weekend.

Rocking a School Girl Look!

Happy Wednesday!!!!

I hope you're having an amazing day! Today's look was inspired by the thought of the upcoming back to school time of year that creates a rush and anticipation for both students and parents. With that in mind, I decided that I wanted to create a fun and cool school girl look but for a woman. Check it out!

Sunkissed Sunset with a Pop of Color and Style!

I have recently come to the conclusion that I live my life rather... FAST! Most days when I try to recall my week, I CAN'T! Is it due to memory lost? Lord, I hope not! Not paying attention to what I do daily? Maybe! Or just brain overload! I think this might really be it! Whichever one it is! I know that I need to SLOW DOWN, recuperate, and just enjoy the simple things in life that money can't buy .

For example, this BEAUTIFUL SUNSET! On the weekends, I just chill and spend a lot of time with Lyla, my family and friends while showing off the fashionista in me! One evening out with my loves, my outfit was composed of pops of color, printed denim, and jeweled shoes!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love COLOR! In past posts, I have paired a denim shirt with jeans to create a interesting denim on denim look. However, denim shirts look amazing with color jeans. That why I paired this heart pattern denim shirt with red pants to create a super cute casual chic look!

I like being comfortable and having an effortless look! But whenever I decide to choose a color as my outfit accent color. I always echo it more than once. In this look, you can find red in my pants, watch, and lipstick. Trust me, if you do this people will notice!

To compliment the blue in my denim shirt, I wore a royal blue handbag.

I wanted to added a little "BLING" to my outfit. A little "Wow factor". A little "Sparkle". So these flats were perfect to complete my look! You don't always have to wear jeweled shoes for formal occasions.

If you haven't tried pairing denim shirts with color jeans or vice versa. You should definitely try it! You'd be surprised how great it will look on you!

Xoxo,

Monique

Hot Day at South Street Seaport

I visited the South Street Seaport to attend an event yesterday and it must of been one of the hottest days ever in New York City! Once I left the event, Rolland and I decided to hang out in South Street Seaport a little longer. I know, I know. I should of headed straight to the car and into the oasis of the air condition. But, I decided against it! Rolland thought it would be a great idea to have an impromptu photoshoot.

I loved the outfit I wore yesterday! I'll be honest, I'm the type of woman who loves finding alternative ways to get multiples uses out of my clothes. So I used a summer dress as a shirt!

Every woman should try it at least once! I normally do this during the winter months. But I felt like doing it that day. Here's a tip for pulling off this look. If your dress stops above your knees, it's the correct length to use. Any dress longer than that would be too long and bulk up in your pants.

I paired this dress with a white pant to allow the pattern  of the dress to be the primary focus of my outfit. I finished off my look with a blue handbag and flat.

Even though it was a really hot day. I felt great and had fun! Ladies, if you haven't tried using your dress as a shirt, just do it. This one creative move will lead to other creative outfit ideas! Have fun and play with your style!

Xoxo,

Monique
